I am southbound, walking northward, looking back over my shoulder all the way. It’s a hard trail, and it feels like walking backwards. I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting there today. They said, “How you gonna get to California,” “When Washington is up the road ahead?” “Don’t you know there’s something better waiting for ya?” I’m hoping I can find my way there in the end. I’m on an outbound train going nowhere I might as well just go and lay down on the tracks And watch the jet trails, looking skyward At least someone up there ain’t ever coming back They said, “how you gonna find you some euphoria, making misery your only best friend?” I got no answers for stupid questions But maybe I can find ‘em in the end. Hey, hey maybe Hey maybe, yeah Hey, hey maybe Hey maybe, yeah Now I’m not feeling stuck, or running out of luck It might just be I don’t give a damn if I ever find my way But since I’m southbound, walking northward I might as well start enjoying where I am today They said, “How you gonna get to California?” “When Washington is up the road ahead?” “Don’t you know there’s something better waiting for ya?” Maybe I can find it here instead Hey, hey maybe Hey maybe, yeah Hey, hey maybe Hey maybe, yeah

This old house is coming down. Light it up, burn it to the ground No love within those walls it’s just a domicile and a port of call. It’s not a place that you'd call home, static humming on the telephone. Broken hearts and broke into. We’re gonna…bring it down with the shaking and the boom-boom. We’ve been long awaiting, we’ve been long awaiting, we’ve been long awaiting, We’ll bring it down with the shakin' and the boom-boom Now our daddy died years ago, when the whiskey river overflowed Dysfunction, atrophy Good Lord, hot damn, you should’ve seen He fooled the priest with a penitent smile a sheepskin on a crocodile a deadbeat thumping in every room so we’ll bring it down with the shakin and the boom-boom We’ve been long awaiting, we’ve been long awaiting, we’ve been long awaiting We’ll bring it down with the shakin' and the boom-boom We’ve been long awaiting, we’ve been long awaiting, we’ve been long awaiting We’ll bring it down with the shakin' and the boom-boom Run from the firelight There’s ghosts in the firelight Run from the firelight Get clear and don’t look back Cause that old foundation’s about to crack…we’re gonna… Tear it down, it’ll set us free Memories buried down underneath It’s the dark before the dawn And we’ve been waiting for too damn long A lit match and some TNT Douse the floor with gasoline Flicked the match and lit the fuse And we brought it down with the shaking and the boom-boom We’ve been long awaiting, we’ve been long awaiting, we’ve been long awaiting We brought it down with the shakin' and the boom-boom We’ve been long awaiting, we’ve been long... we’ve been long awaiting We brought it down with the shakin' and the…. Boom, boom, boom, boom Boom, boom, boom, boom, Boom, boom, boom, boom We brought it down with the shaking and the boom-boom Boom, boom, boom, boom Boom, boom, boom, boom, Boom, boom, boom, boom Yeah we brought it down with the shakin & the boom-boom

She sang “Hallelujah” soft and sweet and the men lined up to fall down at her feet I fought them back they cussed and cursed I knew I had to get there first I’d do about anything for that pretty girl Tattooed her name directly on my heart knowing it was bound to leave a scar I didn’t care how much it hurt or if she dragged me through the dirt I’d do about anything for that pretty girl Desperation causes men regret But I ain't regretting desperation yet Desperate’s not what I'd prefer But I'm desperately in love her And I'd do about anything for that pretty girl I’d give my own right hand and my left would be at her command No they’re not only words, when I say…. I do about anything for that pretty girl Yeah, I’d do about anything for that pretty girl So forty hours a week I’ll spend my life underneath the cold fluorescent lights Security don’t come with thrills but i always have and I always will do anything for that pretty girl I’d give my own right hand and my left would be at her command No they’re not only words, when I say…. I’d do about anything for that pretty girl Yes, I’d do about anything for that pretty girl

No, we don’t need no grill, mama No, we don’t need know fancy stove all we need is a nice warm engine and a good long stretch of country road Now I’ve something for you darlin' It’s a little delicacy that’s bayou born and it’ll pair quite well with Pabst Blue Ribbon so i’m calling ahead just to let you know... I’m bringing some of that... Radiator Alligator sweet potato pie I'll take the long way home and I'll cook it up warm with some corn and a side of rice I caught a gator back by the railroad tracks and it’s just about supper time Gonna grill it up good underneath the hood as I kick it into overdrive i’ll be bringing it home in my mobile kitchen with the vinyl dashboard countertops Antenna fork, and hub cap dishes yeah i’m the Betty Crocker of the engine block So call up our friends and neighbors Yeah, and let em know dinner’s on its way You don’t have to bother with party favors No, just grab a case of beer and get the radio playin' I’m bringing some of that… Radiator Alligator sweet potato pie I'll take the long way home and I'll cook it up warm with some corn and a side of rice I caught a gator back by the railroad tracks and it’s just about supper time I’m gonna grill it up good underneath the hood as I kick it into overdrive And when the moon is rising and the party’s over You and me can hit the backseat I’ll make sure that there’s some left over for the king of the road and his cajun queen Some of that.. Radiator Alligator sweet potato pie I'll take the long way home and we'll cook it up warm with some corn and a side of rice I caught a gator back by the railroad tracks and it’s just about supper time I’m gonna grill it up good underneath the hood as I kick it into overdrive Radiator Alligator sweet potato pie I'll take the long way home and we'll cook it up warm with some corn and a side of rice I caught a gator back by the railroad tracks and it’s just about supper time I’m gonna grill it up good underneath the hood as I kick it into overdrive

All my teeth are falling out, falling out, falling out All my teeth are falling out, falling out, falling in my dreams like something's bothering me Standing naked in the hall, in the hall, in the hall Standing naked in the hall, in the hall, in front of everybody now whatcha think that means? Something in my heart weighs more than I can tolerate and it sends a night time message to my brain Maybe I'm mistaken or it's just a rude awakening but something's troubling my waking mind... that I can not define Yeah, I'm getting chased by rabid dogs, rabid dogs, rabid dogs getting chased by rabid dogs, rabid dogs to catch me they did try and then I opened up my eyes And sometimes I'm just falling down, falling down, falling down sometimes I'm just falling down...falling from the sky but I couldn't tell you why Something in my heart weighs more than I can tolerate and it sends a night time message to my brain Maybe I'm mistaken or it's just a rude awakening but something's troubling my waking mind... that I can not define There's a story in there somewhere but the plot's a little shaky and the moment that I fall asleep my fears they overtake me and every time that i start pulling on that little thread arms start reaching out to pull me underneath my bed Then i dreamt that I met Bonnie Raitt, Bonnie Raitt, Bonnie Raitt Dreamt that I met Bonned Raitt and told her that I loved her but she just walked on by Something in my heart weighs more than I can tolerate and it sends a night time message to my brain Maybe I'm mistaken or it's just a rude awakening but something's troubling my waking mind... that I can not define
